Kathiawar embroidery

Image
Coming to the indian traditional embroideries!!! One of my favourite embroidery "Kathiawar embroidery" one of the marked techniques of surface embellishment of kathiawar district of Gujarat state. Bright colors and mirrors are used in this embroidery. I enjoyed doing this embroidery. The stitches used in this embroidery are herringbone stitch, chain stitch, buttonhole stitch, satin stitch and mirrors. The traditional motif "peacock" is used in this embroidery!! Bright colors add beauty to this embroidery!!

Bargello embroidery

Image
Bargello is a type of needlepoint embroidery consisting of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. Traditionally designs are very colourful and use many hues of one colour, which produces intricate shading effects. The patterns are naturally geometric, but can also resemble very stylised flowers or fruits. Motifs created by the change of colors in the stitches. Bargello is considered particularly challenging as it requires very precise counting of squares for the mathematical pattern connected with the various motifs to accurately execute designs. So here I created this Bargello embroidery using a traditional and most common motif called "flame zig zag" motif. In this motif stitches step sharply across the design.

Its all about merging the colors!!                                                                                        Drawing with colored pencils can be a lot of fun, but blending sometimes can be a not-so-fun process. One way to enhance your artwork is to learn how to blend the colors and its relatively easy once you understand the factors at play. so here I present one of my favorite artwork.
